TAFFY APPLES
A Short History of the Horror Film -
By Astrid Bullen

This old time recipe was originally published in The Delineator in 1920. It was a women's magazine that ran from 1873-1937. I would highly advise using a candy thermometer to make sure you obtain the correct temperature. Enjoy this 85+ year-old recipe.

TAFFY APPLES - Recipe

1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup vinegar
1/2 cup water
Apples, firm and red
Skewers

Mix ingredients and cook until candy thermometer registers 300 degrees. Insert skewer into end of each apple. Dip entire apple in syrup until well coated. Place on waxed paper to harden. Skewer is left in to hold apple when eating. Apple are merely coasted, not cooked.
