Introduction by David Collier

Back in 2001, Sterling Long-Colbo and Jeff Baham of Doombuggies.com assembled one of the most comprehensive books on creating haunted houses called "How To Haunt Your House" (HTHYH). The nearly 300 page book covered just about every aspect of house haunting and it's history. Haunted House Dave (me) was also lucky enough to contribute a small article on the Art of Atmosphere which can be read here. But a major contributor to the book was by a writer by the name of Scott Essman.

Scott wrote an article profiling the masters of horror makeup. Scott contacted me in the Winter of 2006 looking to find out where he could obtain a copy of the article as it appeared in the book. It just happens that I was going to help do a follow up with Sterling and create a volume two of the book which unfortunately never happened. But I did have the article in question on file.

Naturally I gave Scott his copy of the article and I got to thinking. The book was well out of print and only a few hendred copies were ever made so finding it would be a great treasure. I asked Scott if I could share his article with my Club Haunt readers. Scott was gracious enough to allow me this honor.

I've broken his article into 11 parts to make it easier for my readers to nose through. Each part profiles a particular master of the genre and gives great detail of their accomplishments.

I hope you enjoy reading these articles on the masters of makeup as much as I have.
